Distance
Learning (DL)
Students enrolled in Distance Learning classes will be
expected to follow all of the guidelines listed in the general catalog for Lewis-Clark State College.
Available classes are listed on
WarriorWeb under search for classes (select
Distance Learning
under "locations" to view only web-based classes).
Distance Learning offers an
alternative delivery method of classroom instruction to students with time
and geographic constraints. We offer classes online over the Internet; as
hybrids, utilizing both classroom and web instruction; and interactive video
conferencing, which allows for classroom instruction in one site to be
transmitted to additional sites.
DL courses follow the same
academic calendar dates and registration procedures as on-campus classes.
DL classes are as challenging as regular classes.
However, they also require a large degree of self-discipline and organization.
Falling behind in these classes will impact a student's grade, which will be reflected on
a permanent college transcript.
To register for DL classes, students must submit:
Dual Credit Application.
Part-time fees
Fees for DL classes are regular
part-time fees plus any
applicable program and/or lab fees and are payable prior to the first day of the college
semester. Late
fees will be charged if payment is not made or alternate arrangements agreed
upon.
The
refund policy
for
terminating
DL
courses is listed in the LCSC General Catalog.
Refunds are prorated and determined by which week of the semester the
student officially submits the paperwork to drop the class.
If students register for English or math classes, ACT
or SAT test scores must be submitted.
Special requirements may
exist in order for a student to enroll in a class, such as a prerequisite class. If
prerequisites exist, they are listed in the
LCSC
general catalog under the course description for each class
offered.
High school students registering for DL classes need to
submit all of their paperwork and fees to the Office of New Student
Recruitment, located in Reid
Centennial Hall, Room 114. DL semesters follow the same dates as on-campus classes.
It is up to the student's high
school to determine if a class will be accepted as high school credit.
Lewis-Clark State College does not make that determination. Students need
to meet with their high school counselor and the LCSC High
School Relations Counselor prior
to registration to determine which classes will be expected and what the best choice of
classes would be for their chosen career interests.
Credit Transferability
Classes which apply toward LCSC's lower division general education core requirements are
recommended for high school students. Most courses will apply to the general
education core requirements at in- and out-of-state colleges and universities.
