Warriors Rally to Defeat Wildcats, 4-3
LEWISTON,ID--The top-ranked Lewis-Clark State College Warriors got a scare tonight from Central Washington, winning 4-3 in an NAIA Region I baseball game, Friday night, at Harris Field.
Lewis-Clark State (30-8) trailed 3-2 going into the bottom of the second but a solo home run by Mike Madrid (Silver City, NM), his third of the season, and an RBI single by Nick Browne (Santa Monica, CA) put the Warriors ahead for good. LCSC got a spectacular performance out of their bullpen. Ben Royce (Boise, ID) and Wes Hutchison (Burbank, CA) retired all 12 batters they faced, six apiece, and Royce picked up his first win in his first collegiate decision, and Hutchison picked up his second save.
Madrid led the Warrior offense going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one run scored. He was shy only the triple for the cycle.
Central Washington (16-13) got a gutty performance out of starter Marc Parrish (2-4). He threw 121 pitches and scattered six hits in eight innings.
The same two teams will battle at 2:00 PM at Harris Field on Saturday.
