Warriors Power to 11-6 Win Over the 'Yotes

LEWISTON,ID--Top-ranked Lewis-Clark State used a seven-run sixth inning to powers its way to a, 11-6 NAIA Region I baseball win over Albertson College, Sunday afternoon, at Harris Field.

The Warriors (36-10), trailed 6-3 going into the bottom of the sixth, but Ricky Osuna got things started with a one out, RBI double to center that chased Albertson reliever Mike Kraemer. The next batter, Yoshi Kimura, laced Sam Hackett’s second pitch into right field, plating Osuna. After a base hit and a hit batter, and another pitcher, Jay Knowlton came on to pinch hit for Mike Madrid against the Coyotes’ fourth pitcher of the inning. Knowlton received a free pass from former L-C pitcher Chris Rennaker to tie the game and then Trevor Brown walked to push ahead the game winning run.

Matt Hellman kept his 18-game hitting streak alive with a base hit in the first and then a home run in the third, his fifth of the season. Brown added a solo shot of his own, his eighth, in the bottom of the eighth inning. Ricky Bostick (1-0) pitched four innings in relief to pick up his first decision of the season.

Darren Uranga blasted a three-run shot up into the left field stands, his fourth homer of the season and Scott Skeen led off the third inning with his third home run of the season. Hackett (0-1) picked up the loss after facing only two batters.
