Koshelnik Powers L-C Past WOU, 9-1

LEWISTON,ID--Lewis-Clark State scored four runs in the first two innings an cruised to a 9-1 NAIA Region I baseball victory over Western Oregon, Sunday afternoon at Harris Field.

Kurt Koshelnik hit a pair of solo homers to lead the second-ranked Warriors (46-12). Jay Knowlton and Ricky Osuna both added two singles apiece. Mike Madrid hit his team-high 12th home run of the season, a two-run shot, in the seventh. Wes Hutchison (3-3), Chris Mabeus, and Nick Gravelle, who earned his second save, combined to toss a three-hitter and struck out seven batters.

Toby Bottorff hit his first home run of the season in the sixth for Western Oregon (31-15). Lindsay McCargar (1-1) picked up the loss in relief.

The Warriors are tentatively playing in the Linfield College Invitational on Tuesday and Wednesday. If the games are on, LCSC would open against Linfield, Tuesday night at 6:00 P.M., and then play Western Baptist at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday.
