--Top-ranked Lewis-Clark State rallied for two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to win a pitchers duel, 3-2, over the University of British Columbia, in the Paffile Trucking Tournament, Saturday afternoon, at Harris Field. The Warriors (5-4) broke the scoreless tie with a run in the seventh inning as pinch hitter Ben Johnston drove a base hit into right field, scoring pinch runner Clare Langford from second base.
The Thunderbirds (5-2) answered in the top of the eighth, tying the game as Chad Tuck hit a shallow fly ball into left field, which was dropped by Langford, with the bases loaded. Langford was able to throw out the runner trying for third base. Mike Martinsen hit a routine ground ball to shortstop where Yoshi Kimura fielded the ball, but his throw went into the UBC dugout, allowing a run to score from second base, and UBC took the lead.

After a Trevor Brown walk, Mike Madrid scorched a single into right field, but Nicholas Leswick had trouble fielding the ball, allowing it to roll all the way to the warning track, which allowed Brown to score and Madrid to end up at third. Langford singled home Madrid, and L-C regained the lead and Nick Gravelle (2-1) slammed the door shut for the win.
Brendan Ryan and Nick Walker both had two hits on the day for the Warriors. Michael Chavez pitched five strong innings, scattering four hits and picking up two strikeouts.
