--Top-ranked Lewis-Clark State jumped on the board with a five-run first inning and didnt look back as they rolled to a 23-1 win over Northwest Nazarene, in the Paffile Trucking Tournament, at Harris Field.Gabe Stajduhar keyed the inning for the Warriors (7-4) with a bases loaded double to left center, that cleared the bases. LCSC would erupt for five more runs in the fifth on the strength of a pair of two-run homers from Nick Walker and Clare Langford, just two batters later. A seven-run seventh would put the icing on the cake. Micah Furtado hit a two-run double to left center and Brandon OLeary crushed a three-run homer to right center. Nic Puckett (1-0) pitched a solid five innings, giving up one hit and striking out six. Collin Perschon picked up his first save, pitching four innings in relief and struck out eight batters.
Northwest Nazarene (2-8) tallied four hits on the afternoon. Matt Davis picked up a pair of singles and Ruben Burciaga and Barry Warren added one hit each. Jonathan McCoy (0-2) picked up the loss after failing to get any of the first five batters he saw, out.
The final game of the Paffile Trucking Tournament will be played Sunday, February 25th, at noon PST, as Lewis-Clark State will take on the University of British Columbia.
