HIGH SCHOOL: Won four letters as a catcher/outfielder at Vallejo High School for Abe Hobbs...Hit .425 with 12 home runs...Captained both baseball and football teams...Named All-State, All-Region, All-City, and All-League...Played in the East-West All-Star game...Hit .410 with seven homers as a junior...Named All-League...As a sophomore, batted .360 with four home runs...Earned All-League honors...Batted .358, as a freshman, with two home runs...Lettered three years in football and two in basketball...Named team MVP in football as a senior after rushing for 1,001 yards and scoring 15 touchdowns.
