Litchfield Leads LCSC in 17-5 Romp Over Saint Martin's
LEWISTON,ID--Neil Litchfield went 4-for-6 with three RBI and three runs scored to lead Lewis-Clark State to a 17-5 rout over Saint Martin’s College in the final game of the Lewis-Clark State College Tournament, Sunday afternoon, at Harris Field.
Nic Puckett (1-0) started and went three innings, giving up only two hits, in earning the victory in what was a predetermined split by the Lewis-Clark State (16-6) staff. William Simmons retired all three batters he faced, and Junior Avina slammed the door shut in the final two innings, striking out two batters and keeping the Saints hitless in those innings.
The Warriors plated three runs in the second, five in the fourth, two in the seventh, five in the eighth, and two more in the ninth. Brendan Ryan went 2-for-4 at the plate with four RBI and Matt Morgan went 2-for-5 with three runs scored. Emerson Frostad scored four runs as a courtesy runner. In five plate appearances, L-C catcher Tyler Best was hit by a pitch three times and also got on base due to catcher’s interference. He went 1-for-1, an RBI double in the eighth in his only official appearance.
Joe Sliva (1-1) was roughed up in 3.1 innings of work. He gave up eight hits, eight runs (five earned), walked two, struck out two, and hit a batter.
Jesse Elam hit a bases loaded double for Saint Martin’s (2-13) in the sixth.
