#1 Warriors Hold Off Cavaliers, 12-8
LEWISTON,ID--The Lewis-Clark State College Warriors used a seven-run second inning to defeat Concordia University of Portland, Ore., 12-8, in the Guardian Plumbing and Heating Tournament, Saturday morning, at Harris Field.
Brendan Ryan led the Lewis-Clark State (12-4) offense with four hits and three runs batted in. He collected a pair of doubles to go along with a pair of singles. Tory Haven rapped out a pair of hits, including his sixth round tripper of the young season. Matt Morgan also registered two hits, one of which was his team-leading sixth double.
Spencer Stein (1-0) picked up his first victory as a Warrior, in relief of starter Junior Avina. Stein went 3.1 innings, scattering two hits and giving up only one run. Casey Hoorelbeke, the tallest player to ever don a baseball uniform at LCSC at 6’8", picked up his first save in his first appearance of the season.
Chris Reinertson led Concordia (5-12) with four RBI. He went 3-for-4, hitting his first home run of the season, a grand slam to left field in the top of the third. Chris Baird went 4-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored. He collected a double and his fifth home run of the season.
