Saints Upset Warriors, 8-6

LACEY,WA--The Saints plated two runs in the bottom of the fourth to break a 6-all tie en route to an 8-6 upset win in the second game of a doubleheader against Lewis-Clark State College. The loss snapped L-C’s six-game winning streak and eight-game winning streak over the Saints in the all-time series. The last Saint Martin’s win came April 23, 2000, in Lewiston.

Mike Lambro led Saint Martin’s (8-20) with two hits and three RBI. Mike DeLaurier added two base hits and a runs scored and former Warrior, Gabe Boruff, rapped out a double and scored. Walter Simpson (1-0) picked up the win in relief of starter John Corkery. Simpson held the Warrior batters to only five hits over 5.2 innings, surrendering only one run. Shawn Dunaway picked up his first save of the year, hurling the last 1.1 innings.

Tory Haven went 3-for-5 from the plate, with two of those hits being doubles and collected four RBI for LCSC (26-11). Neil Litchfield went 2-for-4 with a triple. Nick Bullen (1-1) picked up the loss after facing only four batters in 4th, and not retiring a batter. He relieve Warrior starter Zeph Zinsman who went three innings and gave up six hits, three earned runs. He allowed three unearned runs. Nick Seely came in and threw five innings of one-hit ball.
