'Yotes Down Warriors, 6-2
LEWISTON, ID--
Taylor Blair tossed his second consecutive complete game in leading #22 Albertson to a 6-2 win over #7 Lewis-Clark State, Friday night, at Harris Field.Darren Uranga led Albertson (29-13-1) with three singles and five RBI. Scott Skeen added a pair of singles and D.J. Eberlin recorded a double and a single. Blair (5-1), scattered ten hits and allowed one earned run, while striking out five batters.
Brendan Ryan led the Lewis-Clark State (30-13) offense, going 2-for-4 with two RBI. Micah Furtado and Mike Madrid both tallied two hits. Tim Petke (4-3) tossed six innings, giving up seven hits and five runs, and struck out a season-high eight batters.
The ‘Yotes never trailed, securing the lead in the top of the first, on Uranga’s single, plating Scott Skeen. Uranga singled again, in the third, scoring Patrick Gonzalez from second.
LCSC scored its first run in the bottom of the third, as Ryan singled deep in the hole at shortstop, allowing Matt Morgan to score from third.
Albertson scored the eventual game-winning run in the top of the fifth on Uranga’s sacrifice fly to right. The Warriors countered with a run in the home half of the inning, as Ryan hit a sacrifice fly to right.
The Coyotes tacked on a pair of runs in the seventh, and one more in the ninth to seal the victory.
The same two teams meet tomorrow, at Harris Field. Game time is set for 1:00
