Royce to Pitch in Midwest League All-Star Game

LEWISTON, Idaho-Former Lewis-Clark State College right-handed pitcher, Ben Royce (Boise, ID/Treasure Valley Community College/Borah HS), has been selected to participate in the 2002 Class A Midwest League All-Star Game to be played June 18th in Lansing, Mich.

Royce, who now goes by his first name Ramon, Ben is his middle name, is one of two Wisconsin Timber Rattler pitchers on the team and four total from the affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. As of Monday, Royce has a 2-3 record with a 2.45 earned run average, which is tenth-best in the league. In 16 appearances, he has started six and has registered a save. Royce has also struck out 36 batters while only walking 13 in 51 1/3 innings and has yet to give up a home run.

Royce went 3-0 with a 4.74 ERA for the Warriors in 2001, his only season. In 24 2/3 innings pitched, he struck out 18 while allowing only three free passes. He opened last year’s NAIA World Series against the University of Mobile, pitching only two innings for a no decision in Lewis-Clark State’s 10-4 win.
