Heitmann Earns Academic Award
Heitmann finished the season with a 3-1 record and a 5.19 ERA, with one save, in 26.0 innings of work. He has struck out 31 batters while only walking four. Heitmann has posted a cumulative 3.975 GPA in Kinesiology.
Heitmann was one of only three NAIA student-athletes to make one of the three teams. By coincidence, the other two players also participated in the 2002 Avista NAIA World Series: Kyle Kuykendall of Embry-Riddle University and Kennard Bibbs of Oklahoma City University. Both earned second team honors.
To be eligible, an athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, and maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 on a 4.00 scale.
