
Warriors Selected #1 in Preseason Poll
Defending World Series champion Birmingham-Southern College has moved on to NCAA Division I, and at the end of this season, third-ranked Dallas Baptist University, will make the move to NCAA Division II. Second-ranked Oklahoma City, last year’s top ranked team in the final NAIA poll will try again to make it to Lewiston out of the tough Sooner Athletic Conference. In that league, OCU is #2, Lubbock Christian is #10, and Oklahoma Baptist is #19.
Rounding out the top five are: annual World Series participant and last year’s third-place finisher, Bellevue University at #4, and ranked fifth is North Georgia.
Other 2001 Avista NAIA World Series participants that are ranked are: #6 Warner Southern College, #8 Biola University, #11 Indiana Tech, and #18 University of Mobile.
13th-ranked Albertson College of Idaho is the only other Region I team in the
top 25. The University of British Columbia picked up 16 votes for the poll.
