In an afternoon contest that witnessed 23 hits, 13 pitchers and six errors -- five by the Wolf Pack -- L-C took control with a five-run surge in the seventh inning. That flurry featured a two-run homer by Ryan Stevenson and a two-run single by Jose Rodriguez.
Neavada, which scored six runs in the bottom of the ninth Friday to win 13-12, made a similar charge Saturday. A single, hit batter and walk loaded the bases to start the inning. Nick Seely relieved Ryan Heil, and notched a strikeout before giving up a sacrifice fly to Robert Maricial. Brett Hayes lined out to right to end the game.
Heil (2-0) worked three innings, the longest stint of L-C's six pitchers, allowing a run and two hits while striking out four and walking three. Seely picked up his second save of the year.
The Warriors (22-4) scored three runs in both the first and third innings to take early command. Nevada put up five runs in the fifth on three hits, among them Erick Streelman's three-run homer, to move ahead 8-6.
Six of L-C's runs were unearned.
The teams conclude their series today at 1 p.m.
