MCMINNVILLE, Ore. -- Lewis-Clark State wrapped up its most extensive road trip of the season with two victories Tuesday, routing Linfield 19-0 and edging Concordia 10-9.
The win over Linfield served as resounding atonement for the Warriors' worst loss of the year, 11-3 on Feb. 20. In this rematch L-C had 19 hits, four of them home runs -- including two by Brandon Morris -- while three pitchers limited Linfield to four singles.
L-C put up seven runs in each the sixth and ninth innings. Billy Steverman and Morris bashed back-to-back homers to start the sixth, while Derek Bruce's two-run shot started the scoring in the ninth.
Bruce had three hits, as did Morris and Neil Litchfield, and drove in four runs.
Kyle Allen (3-1) pitched the first five innings, yielding two hits while striking out three. Rob Williams and Nick Seely worked two one-hit innings apiece, and Seely likewise struck out three.
Linfield, which had won seven straight, dips to 15-5.
Against Concordia, the Warriors, 24-5, did the bulk of their damage in the middle innings, scoring four times in the fourth and five in the sixth.
The latter rally, which included five hits -- among them RBI singles by Justin Fuller and Jose Rodriguez -- two errors, a bases-loaded walk and two sacrifice flies, put L-C ahead 10-8.
Concordia, 12-7, mustered a threat in every subsequent inning but the ninth, yet managed only one additional run, coming on Aaron Coiteux's eighth-inning homer.
Derek Landavazo, the third of five pitchers L-C used, picked up the win to go to 2-0. Ben Newton worked the final 1 2/3 to collect the save, his second.
Fuller had two hits and three RBI. The junior infielder went 5-for-9 and drove in five runs on the day.
L-C, which posted a 5-2 record on this seven-day swing, returns home this weekend to play host to St. Martin's in a three-game series beginning Friday.
