Lewis-Clark State completed its decisive sweep of St. Martin's, finishing the three-game baseball series with a 13-1 victory over the NCAA Division II school Sunday at Harris Field.
The Warriors (27-5) drilled St. Martin's pitchers for 16 hits, picking up at least one in every inning. Starter Kyle Allen picked up his fourth win, allowing one hit while fanning five in three innings.
St. Martin's (3-23) managed only two runs in the three games with L-C. The Saints lost on Friday 16-1, then were shut out 8-0 on Saturday.L-C's hurlers scattered five Saint hits, their only run coming on a solo home run from Jeff Miken in the sixth.
Seth McCauley had two doubles and a single for the Warriors, collecting two RBI. Jose Rodriguez also provided three hits, including a two-run homer in the fourth, part of a five-run spurt. Tyler Best knocked a lead-off home run in the sixth.
Lewis-Clark State got things started in the fourth when Anthony Slagle smacked a two-out, two-run double. Derek Bruce singled to score Slagle, then Rodriguez belted his homer to left center.
The Warriors tallied four more in the fifth, with Brandon Morris reaching on a throwing error by third baseman Cody Duncan, his second of the game. L-C had three doubles in the inning by Tyson Dietz, Neil Litchfield and McCauley.
