Three Warriors Taken In First Day of Amateur Draft

Three Warriors were drafted in the opening of a two day, 50 round Amateur draft.

Joey Dyche (6-1/180/Jr) was the first Warrior taken, selected by the San Francisco Giants in the seventh round.  The right handed centerfielder set the single season LCSC batting average record in 2005, hitting an impressive .500 with 11 hr’s and 56 rbi’s.  Dyche was named as a 2005 NAIA All-American first team member, and to the 2005 NAIA World Series All-tournament team.  Dyche’s most recent accomplishment at the plate included a game in the 2005 World Series where he hit for the cycle.

Carlos Fisher (6-4/220/SR) was the first Warrior pitcher taken, drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 11th round.  In 2005, the powerful right-hander compiled a record of 4-2, while posting a 3.36 era.

Brad Davis (6-1/180/SR) was added to the list of Warriors selected on the first day of the draft, where he was picked in the 14th round by the Oakland A’s.  The left-handed Davis compiled an overall season record of 6-2 with an era of 2.14.

The two-day Amateur draft continues tomorrow afternoon.
