JUNIOR COLLEGE: Played two seasons at the College of Sequoias where he saw action at both pitcher and first base.  He was the Rookie of the Year his freshman season and then earned first-team All-Nor Cal honors last season. Was a teammate of Chris Schwinden, who also is with the Warriors this year.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played both first base and pitcher for the Badgers of Yosemite High and earned three varsity letters. During his senior year, he pitched a no-hitter in the championship game of the league tournament.

PERSONAL: Was born Dec. 6, 1985 to John and Cathy Burns in Fresno, Calif. He has one sister, Brittany. His uncle is Pat Corrales, who was a major league manager with Texas, Philadelphia and Cleveland.
