JUNIOR COLLEGE:
Played one season at Lane Community College in Eugene, Ore., for
coach Rob Strickland where Duryea was a pitcher and utility player.
He was a first-team Southern Division NWAAC pick and was drafted in
the 50th round of the 2005 MLB drafty by the Tampa Bay
Devil Rays. This past summer, he played in the West Coast Baseball
League and was named Player of the Week as a reliever.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Played two years at Saint Bernard’s High in northern California and
then played at Marshfield High in Coos Bay, Ore. He was an
all-league selection his junior year and played on Team West
Showcase and Area Code teams. He also was selected as MVP of the
Pacific Northwest Championships. His senior year, he was the league
MVP a first-team all-state selection and a 20th round
draft pick by Tampa Bay.
PERSONAL:
He was born on Dec. 31, 1985 to Phil and Cindy Duryea in Ketchikan,
Alaska. He has three sisters, Brittney, Emily and Chloe. He lists
his hobbies as hanging out with friends and playing video games.
Duryea is a Kinesiology major at LCSC.
