2 in NAIA weekly poll

The Lewis-Clark State
College baseball team
remained at No. 2 for the
second straight week in the
NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top
25 poll, which was released
on Wednesday.
Lubbock Christian
University, which replaced
LCSC at the top spot last
week, drew all 19
first-place votes to hold
down the top spot with a
40-1 record. LCSC, at 35-4,
is second, followed by Lee
(45-5), Oklahoma City (40-8)
and Azusa Pacific (33-8).
The Warriors play five games
in four days this week. LCSC
plays host to Whitworth on
Wednesday, and then travel
to Spokane on Thursday to
face the Pirates again. LCSC
then starts a three-game
home stand with Corban on
Friday, and the two teams
will play a noon
doubleheader on Saturday.
LCSC coach Ed Cheff is
closing in on his 1,600th
win. Cheff currently has
1,594 victories and needs
six more victories to reach
the accomplishment.
Earlier this season, Cheff
coached his 2,000th game at
LCSC. Cheff currently has an
overall record of
1,594-408-2 at LCSC.
