JUNIOR COLLEGE:
Attended Fresno City College for two seasons where he played first
base and pitched. He also served as a team captain his sophomore
season. Was a first-team JC All American and first-team All-NorCal
and All-Conference selections both seasons. He hit. .362 as a
sophomore with 61 RBI, 20 doubles, and eight home runs. His team
finished third in the state tournament.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Attended Salinas High for two years and then Fresno High for final
two years. Played baseball all four years, including shortstop third
base and pitcher at Salinas where he earned all-conference honors as
a sophomore. He played first base and pitched at Fresno High and
earned first-team all-state honors both seasons. As a junior, he hit
.520 and went 7-0 as a pitcher to earn the league MVP honor and be
an all-section choice. He was again the league MVP and All-Section
choice as a senior.
PERSONAL:
Born June 7, 1987 to Michael Halton and Nina Capriola. Has one
brother, Joe. Has an uncle who played baseball with the Phillies,
another uncle who played football at Fresno State, and a third uncle
who played professional basketball overseas. He played on the AAU
15-and-Under national championship baseball team. Lists his hobbies
as playing cards, fishing, hunting, bull riding, and music. Is
majoring in Kinesiology.
