JUNIOR COLLEGE:
Attended Cochise Junior College in Douglas, Ariz., where he played
both catcher and first base for coach Todd Inglehart. During his
sophomore year, he hit .310. Among his 48 hits were five home runs
and 12 doubles. Had a 3.75 GPA.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Went to the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy High School and graduated
in 2004. Had a 3.80 GPA in high school.
PERSONAL:
Born Feb. 9, 1986 to Bernardo Pena and Irma Gonzalez in Puerto Rico.
He has two sisters. Played on the Rio Grande American Legion team,
which won the Puerto Rico championship and was second in the Legion
Tournament. Also has coached a 15-16 year-old baseball team. Lists
movies, fishing, beach volleyball, and going to the beach as his
hobbies. Is majoring in Criminal Justice.
