Patten takes down COI 8-5

LEWISTON, Idaho – Patten
University bounced back from
an 11-3 loss to Lewis-Clark
State earlier in the day to
defeat the College of Idaho
8-5 on Saturday at the
Regence BlueShield of Idaho
Tournament at Lewis-Clark
State College.
The win is Patten’s first on
the season. Patten is now
1-7 overall and 1-1 in the
tournament. College of
Idaho, which fell to Corban
18-16 on Friday, is now 0-2
on the season and in the
tournament.
Patten used 11 hits and a
four-run third inning to
overcome the Coyotes.
Starting pitcher Chris Duke
pitched all but the final
out for Patten and recorded
eight strikeouts while
giving up five runs (three
earned).
Nick Robertson came off the
bench for the Lions to hit
the only home run in the
game—a two-run home run in
the third inning.
Izaac Garsez was the only
Coyote to have multiple hits
in the game. Garsez went
2-for-4 with a triple, an
RBI, and a run scored.
Both teams resume play on
Sunday. College of Idaho
faces Concordia at 10 a.m.,
and Corban faces tournament
host LCSC at 3 p.m.
