PREVIOUS COLLEGES: Played at American River Junior College during 2008 and then last year at Long Beach State. Posted a 2-2 record with a 6.98 ERA last season. He made 11 appearances, including six starts, and threw 29.2 innings. He struck out 25 and walked 12. At American River during the 2008 season, Jeff went 3-2 with one save and a 3.99 ERA. He appeared in 11 games and made eight starts. Struck out 53 in 49.2 innings and opponents hit only .227. Earned first-team all Big Eight Conference honors.

HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Oakmont High School in Rosehill, Calif. and graduated in 2005. He was an outfielder and pitcher on the baseball team where he earned all-league honors and was an honorable mention all-area selection. Helped team to a perfect 12-0 league record.

PERSONAL: Born November 22, 1986 in Sacramento, Calif. His parents are Tim and Jayla Lease. His hobbies include snowboarding, wakeboarding, golfing, and hunting. He was selected in the 46^th round by Tampa Bay in the 2008 draft. He’s pursuing a Communications degree.
