LCSC:
Eccles was the Warriors’
usual starter in left
field in 2010… he
played in 42 games, starting
31 of them, and hit .252
(30-for-118)…he had 18 runs,
eight doubles, a triple,
four home runs, and 21 runs
batted in…had seven two-hit
games including one against
Saint Martin’s in which he
hit a two-run game-winning
home run in extra innings…in
the field, he had 49 putouts
and one assist and did not
commit an error.
JUNIOR COLLEGE:
Played two seasons as an
outfielder for Santa Ana
Junior College…was team
captain his sophomore
season…his teams won the
league title both years and
he earned all-conference
honors both seasons…had an
outstanding sophomore season
when he earned All-American
and All-Pacific honors…he
was the athlete of the month
in February for California
during his sophomore
season…he finished with a
.377 batting average
(72-of-191), .791 slugging
percentage, and a .402
on-base percentage…he had 19
home runs, 14 doubles, four
triples, 65 RBI and 151
total bases…hit .343 as a
freshman, including a .391
clip in conference play.
HIGH SCHOOL:
Attended Temescal Canyon
High School in Canyon Lake,
Cal., where he graduated in
2007…earned two letters
apiece in baseball and
football. In baseball, he
played first base, third
base and in the outfield,
while in football, he was a
linebacker and running
back…earned all-league
honors in baseball and the
Titan Award in football. Had
a 3.5 GPA or higher all four
years, and both his football
and baseball teams won
league titles each season he
was there.
PERSONAL: Was born on
Oct. 18, 1989 in Huntington
Beach, Calif…his parents are
John and Carmen Eccles, and
he has one sister,
Janelle…his father played
five seasons in the
Minnesota Twins’ minor
league organization as a
catcher…Jake’s hobbies
include wakeboarding,
snowboarding, golfing, and
fishing…he is a Kinesiology
major…had a 3.50 GPA or
higher every semester at
Santa Ana.
