Cross
Country’s Sixth off-season Recruit
3-16-06
Since
the 2005 fall season, Lewis-Clark State College’s
Cross Country program and Head Coach Mike Collins
have recruited five runners. With the recent
addition of a Nampa, Idaho standout the grand total
is now at six.
Phil Vincent, a senior at Nampa High School, has
signed a letter of intent to run for the Warriors
next season. Vincent joins Ben Behrends and Brett
Fowler as the newest members of the nationally
ranked men’s program. He has been very successful in
high school and could possibly be just as successful
in college. Last fall, while finishing 4th
in the 4A cross country state championships, the
Nampa High School senior put up the 12th
best time of any senior in the state. Furthermore,
during last year’s track season he qualified for
state in the 3200 and finished 10th, and
this year is considered a favorite to win it.
Coach Collins had
this to say about his newest runner, “We are excited
about adding Phil to an already deep roster for next
year. Not only will he help next year’s team, but
will be a part of a crop of young runners that will
help carry the Warriors into the future… he is still
developing as a runner, but already has a running
resume that looks good.”
