L-C women move up three spots; Men reach the top 25

After their recent success at the Northwest Nazarene Invitational on Saturday, both the men’s and women’s teams were awarded top 25 rankings. The lady Warriors, who claimed third at Saturday’s NNU Invitational and started the season ranked No. 19 in the NAIA, now hold the No. 16 spot. On the men’s side, an impressive second place finish on Saturday moved them from unranked to No. 25 in the country. Head coach Mike Collins commented on the teams’ rankings, “We are very excited about where we are at in the polls right now, but it is a very long season.  We want to be in this spot at the end of the year when it really matters in order to qualify for nationals.”

This Saturday, September 17, LCSC’s cross country program attends the Sundodger Classic in Seattle, Washington. Coach Collins believes this weekend, with many other Region I teams in attendance, to be the first real test of the season for his newly ranked squads. He in conclusion, stated, “Right now both teams have a big target on their backs as many other teams will see this as an opportunity to not only knock us off, but to get themselves into the polls. We will have to race well enough to prevent that from happening.”
