Kuzmic, Solosabal Break School
Records
This past weekend at the
Willamette University Track and Field Invite, Tausha Kuzmic, a
senior on the LCSC track team and graduate of Valleyview High
School broke the current LC record in the 10,000 meters and
posted what was at that point, the fastest 10K time in the NAIA
this year finishing the race in 37:07.20.
She has already qualified for nationals in the marathon, a race
she is hoping to win, so qualifying in the 10K makes for some
interesting choices later.
I have already gone back to look at the past 5-6 years of
results at nationals and her 10K time would make her an
all-American every single year (top 6 placers) with a shot to
win in a couple of those years. Not sure she really wants to run
this race at nationals because her true goal is to win the
marathon and running in the 10K could potentially jeopardize
that goal. The 10K is run on Thursday night and the marathon is
Saturday morning. However, last year we had a tornado come
through and the 10kers ran on Friday morning, so that recovering
time is lost if something like that were to happen again.
We don't have to make any
decisions right away, but when that time comes we will see what
she decides to do.
Additionally, at the meet
Senior Matt Solosabal broke the school record in the men's 10K
finishing in 32:31 and Aaron Galbraith broke the 5K record in
15:46.
