L-C men claim Region I golf title
Copyright of The Trib
MOSCOW -- A third-round score of 296 allowed Lewis-Clark
State to hold on for the men's team title in the NAIA Region I golf
tournament, which concluded Tuesday at the University of Idaho Golf Course.
L-C's composite score was 873, giving it a nine-stroke margin of victory
over second-place Simon Fraser. Jeff Thoeny led the Warriors with a 218,
which gave him a fifth-place finish individually.
On the women's side, British Columbia took the team title with a
three-round score of 965. L-C was fourth with 1,039.
Nikki Olson finished fifth for the Warriors with a 240. Both she and
Thoeny were named to the all-region team.
The L-C men, by virtue of winning the team title, receive an automatic
berth to the NAIA national tournament. The Warrior women are a likely choice
for an at-large invitation.
