L-C men take over lead in Frontier standing

HELENA, Mont. -- Although it placed second in this week's Frontier Conference tournament, the Lewis-Clark State men's golf team, took over first place in the conference standings.

The Warriors posted a team total of 875 in the meet, which concluded Tuesday at Green Meadows Country Club. That was good for second behind Victoria, a nonconference competitor, and was 20 strokes better than Rocky Mountain, from whom L-C assumed the conference lead.

Shawn Krahling's 54-hole score of 219 led the Warrior men.

The L-C women totaled 1,004 points, 46 behind Rocky Mountain, which maintained its overall lead. L-C Nicole Olson finished second individually with 236.

Next week's Frontier Conference tournament will be held at Billings, Mont.

MEN

Team scores -- Victoria 869, Lewis-Clark State 875, Rocky Mountain 895, Montana Tech 910, Carroll 926, Montana-Western 937, Westminster 945.

Medalist -- Ryan Linnell, Rocky Mtn., 210.

L-C scores -- Shawn Krahling 219, Aaron Curtis 220, Jeff Thoeny 221, Jeff Smith 221, Mark Vedder 228.

WOMEN

Team scores -- Rocky Mountain 958, Lewis-Clark State 1004, Westminster 1111, Montana Tech 1131, Montana State-Great Falls 1155, Northern 1169,

Medalist -- Karen Poole, Rocky Mtn, 230.

L-C scores -- Nicole Olson 236, Christina Bernicki 256, Katie Fuqua 259, Kara Player 260, Samara Kluever 262.
