Jason Humphrey
chipped in for birdie on the final hole, giving
him the needed edge to claim medalist honors at
the Warrior Invitational golf tournament, which
concluded Tuesday at the Clarkston Golf and
Country Club.
Humphrey shot a second-round 69, giving him 143
for the tournament, one stroke better than Simon
Fraser's Mathew Steinbach. L-C claimed the men's
team title with a total of 596, eight shots
ahead of second-place Simon Fraser. Both the
Warriors and Simon Fraser shot 298 on Wednesday.
"Our consistency was what won it for us," L-C
coach Paul Thompson said. "We didn't feel like
we played all that well, but we didn't play
badly."
The L-C women, who led after the first round,
finished seven strokes behind Rocky Mountain,
which posted a score of 675. The Billings
school's top competitor, Rachel Warren, was the
women's medalist with 157.
Juanita Villa led the Warriors with 162.
