Golf
Team Recruits another Top Prospect
12-14-05
Just a couple weeks
since the signing of Utah’s Brittney Wheeler, the
Lewis-Clark Golf team is announcing another
successful recruitment. Juanita Villa, from
Medellin, Columbia, has signed a letter of intent to
join the women’s golf team for the 2006 spring
season. Even though fresh out of high school,
graduated earlier this month, Villa joins the
Warriors with a good deal of golf experience. Over
the past three years Villa has been involved in
tournament after tournament. During 2005 alone, she
placed first at the Regional Golf Tournament at El
Rodeo C.C., and third at the Gira de Occidente at
Manzales C.C., all while sporting a stroke average
of just 78. In academics she also puts up some
impressive numbers, including a 4.0 grade point
average.
The Warrior coaching staff believes Villa is a great
addition to the team, and that she’ll be an
immediate contender for a spot in the team’s top
five. With golf season coming into full swing by the
end of February, the Warrior golf program looks set
to have another successful second half of the
season. The addition of Juanita Villa could
possibly help secure an NAIA National Championship
birth. Currently at the top of the Frontier
Conference standings, the Warrior women’s golf team
is ranked as the 15th best team in the
NAIA rankings.
