Women's golf team remains 13th after third round

SAN DIEGO – The Lewis-Clark State College women’s golf team remained in 13th place after the third round of the NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship Tournament Lake San Marcos Country Club on Thursday.

The Warriors fired a 40-over-par team score of 328 on Thursday for a team score of 986, which is 122 strokes over par.

LCSC will have its work cut out for it to make a move over the final 18 holes on Friday. The University of Victoria is 15 shots ahead of LCSC in 10th place with a 971 total. Also, Concordia of Oregon is in 14th place, just three shots behind the Warriors.

LCSC sophomore Juanita Villa, who was named the Frontier Conference’s Player of the Year on Thursday, enjoyed her best round of the tournament with a 78 on Thursday, while teammate Cortney Shrout, a freshman, added an 81. Villa is now at 245 for the tournament, while Samara Kluever, who fired an 85 on Thursday, is at 246, and Shrout at 247.

Kara Player had an 84 for LCSC on Thursday, while Chantelle Beveridge had an 88. Player is at 250, while Beveridge is at 259 overall.
