2010-11 Golf Coaches
Now
entering his ninth season as the head coach of the Warrior golf
program, Paul Thompson has brought the men’s team to the forefront
of the Frontier Conference, and has made the trip to the NAIA
national tournament more of an expectation than a hope.
Thompson has led the
men’s team to five conference titles, coming in 2002-03, 2004-05,
2005-06, 2006-07, and 2008-09, and the women’s team claimed the
conference title in 2005-06.
Under his watch, the
women have competed at nationals six times, while the men have
qualified twice.
In 2008-09, the men’s team captured the
program’s seventh Frontier Conference title, this time by 57
strokes, and wound up finishing in a tie for 27th place at
nationals. The women’s team earned an at-large berth to the NAIA
national meet where the Warriors finished 12th overall.
Thompson has been named the Frontier Conference’s Men’s Coach of the
Year on four occasions; with the latest coming in 2008-09.
Paul’s retirement from his position as Vice President of Pepsi Cola
in Lewiston eight years ago opened the door of opportunity to pursue
collegiate coaching. With 39 years of experience in the business
world, he has a strong background in fundraising and management.
A resident of Clarkston,
Wash., Thompson has been married to his wife Judy for 46 years. They
have four children Polly, Tami, Todd, and Scott.
