LCSC women are in
control at round-robin
Region I tennis tourney
2-29-08
The Lewis-Clark State
College women’s tennis team
picked up a pair of key
victories by steamrolling
Southern Oregon 8-1 and then
defeating the University of
Alberta 6-3 in Region I
round-robin play at the LCSC
Tennis Center on Friday.
The round-robin tournament
will help decide the top
team in Region I, which will
receive an automatic berth
to the national tournament.
Because these teams won’t
meet again or play in a
regional tournament at the
end of the season, the
round-robin format will go a
long way in determining the
national tournament
representative.
Against Southern Oregon,
LCSC swept the six singles
matches and then won five of
six against Alberta.
In other play thus far,
Alberta defeated Southern
Oregon 7-2, while Southern
Oregon wrapped up
round-robin play at 1-2 with
a 7-2 win over the College
of Idaho.
College of Idaho and Alberta
meet at noon on Saturday,
while LCSC faces College of
Idaho on Sunday at 9:30
a.m., and then squares off
against Eastern Washington
at 1 p.m.
