Meanwhile, the Warrior men saw their season come to an end with a 6-3 setback to Freed-Hardeman, Tenn.
The L-C women logged a number of one-sided victories, including identical 6-1, 6-0 singles triumphs by Pei Yuin Keng, Khaliun Enkhjargal and Maria Resende. Carla Jones also rallied for a 3-6, 6-1, 10-4 win.
The Warrior swept all three doubles matches.
"It's always good to get a first round match under our belt," L-C coach Kai Fong said. "These guys were pretty tough, just a little inconsistent. It was just right for a first round match."
LCSC, the 12th seed, will face No. 5 Point Loma Nazarene, Calif., in the second round today at 7 a.m. PDT. As one of the top eight seeds, Point Loma had a first-round bye.
No L-C team has ever advanced beyond the second round in this tournament.
The Warrior men got singles victories from Borja Molas and Phil McKeague in their loss to FHU. The L-C doubles team of Dimitri Verabyou and Ari Zaslow also tallied a win.
"It's one of those 'could have, should have' type situations," Fong said. "This year's field is very deep, so there were many matches like ours that could have gone either way in the first round."
