Scholar-Athlete honors
06-06-08
Six
Lewis-Clark State College runners earned
Daktronics-National Association of
Intercollegiate Athletic Track and Field
Scholar-Athlete honors for the spring, the
NAIA has announced.
LCSC
had three male and three female runners
honored. To be eligible for honors, a
student-athlete must hold junior or senior
academic standing and have a minimum 3.5
grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.
Although the college doesn’t recognize men’s
track as a college-sponsored sport, LCSC
seniors Calin Hantau and Aaron Galbraith
were honored, along with junior Adrian
Ramirez. Hantau, who is from Sighisoau,
Romania, and Galbraith, who is from
Wenatchee, Wash., both were honored for the
fourth time overall – twice for track and
twice for cross country. Ramirez, who hails
from Yakima, Wash., was honored for the
second time – once each in cross country and
track.
On the
women’s side, LCSC senior Rikki Glick joins
juniors Katja Loevslett and Rosa Bautista as
Scholar-Athletes. Glick, who is from Bend,
Ore., joins Hantau and Galbraith as
four-time honorees. Loevslett, who hails
from Stavanger, Norway, received her first
track and field honor after being honored in
the fall for cross country. Loevslett
redshirted one season so although she is a
junior academically, she just finished her
sophomore season of eligibility. Bautista,
who is from Stanfield, Ore., also was
honored last fall and then this spring for
the first time.
More
than 400 student-athletes received
Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors.
