just misses earning spot in steeplechase
finals

ST.
LOUIS – Lewis-Clark State College’s
Lindsay Szybura finished eighth in her
heat in the women’s 3,000-meter
steeplechase during the opening day of
the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field
Championships and just barely missed
qualifying for Saturday’s finals.
Szybura, who hadn’t competed in the race
before this season, ran a time of 11
minutes and 45.96 seconds.
There were two heats in the event and
the top 16 times from the two heats
advance to Saturday’s finals. Szybura, a
sophomore, posted the No. 17th fastest
time.
Szybura was the only LCSC runner to
qualify for the national meet this
season.
Although LCSC has qualified women
competitors to the meet before, this was
the first year that women’s track was a
school sponsored sport.
Szybura also is a member of the Warrior
cross country team.
