Szybura meets NAIA qualifying mark
in steeplechase

SEATTLE, Wash. - Lewis-Clark State
College sophomore Lindsay Szybura
became the first Warrior to meet the
NAIA national qualifying standard
when she posted the 19th best time
in the NAIA this season in the
3,000-meter steeplechase at the Ken
Shannon/Ken Foreman Invitational at
University of Washington's Husky
Stadium.
Szubura,
who is from Orting, Wash., crossed
the finish line in a personal best
time of 11 minutes, 29.69 seconds.
The time qualified her for the NAIA
national meet, which will be held
May 22-24 at Ralph Korte Stadium in
Edwardsville, Ill.
The
Warriors had a handful of athletes
compete at the meet, which was
hosted by UW. Sophomore Kyli Astle
was sixth in the 3,000 meters in
18:52.63, while teammate Emily
Perkins was seventh in 18:52.76.
Jessie Gulsvig was 10th at 19:55.20.
Also
for the Warrior women, Melissa
Neuman finished seventh in the
hammer throw with a toss of 128-0.
On the
men's side, Eric Tuwei and Aaron
Galbraith finished eighth and ninth,
respectively, in the 3,000 meters.
Tuwei was tmed in 15:34.04, while
Galbraith crossed the finish line in
15:42.69. Sean Huey wound up 15th in
15:56.44.
Also
for the Warrior men, Nathan Uhlorn
was sixth in the shot put at 45-3.
