HIGH SCHOOL:
Was an all-around athlete at
Lapwai, where she
participated in five sports,
including two sports at the
same time. She was a
four-year letterwinner in
volleyball and also
participated in cross
country during one of the
fall seasons… Was captain of
the volleyball team for
three seasons…. In the
winter, she earned four
letters in basketball as a
guard/forward, and then
participated on both the
softball and track teams in
the spring, earning four
letters… She played in the
District II All-Star Game
for volleyball and
basketball her senior year
and was a 1A second-team
all-state selection in
basketball her senior year
when the team won both the
district and state title…
The Lapwai girls’ track team
finished second three years
in a row and she
participated on the winning
1,600 relay team that set a
state record... She holds
the school record in the
100, 200 and 400 meters, and
also is part of the
record-setting 800, 1,600
and medley relay teams.
PERSONAL:
Born Feb. 2, 1991 to Josh
and Dawn Leighton, and has
five brothers: Preston,
Garrett, Rielly, Shelby, and
Kendall, and one sister:
Joslyn... Her dad and her
sister both attended LCSC
and she has several
relatives who were college
athletes, including uncles
Johnson and Gem Leighton,
who both played basketball
at LCSC… Lists her hobbies
as sports, swimming, Wii,
watching movies, doodling,
listening to music, and
eating… Had a 3.80 GPA in
high school and finished
second in regionals and
third in state in Desktop

Professionals of America
competition… Is majoring in
Elementary Education.
