PORTLAND -- The good news for the Warrior men's basketball team was that in spite of terrible shooting, they were tied at halftime.

The bad news came in the second half.

L-C was never able to find any kind of shooting touch and fell to Lewis and Clark College 68-45 in the title game of a tournament at Cascade College on Saturday.

For the game the Warriors shot 18-for-52 (35 percent) from the field, although they were a respectable 7-for-21 from the 3-point line.

"We got tremendous looks at the basket -- lots of wide open shots," said Warrior coach George Pfeifer. "We just couldn't make any."

A telltale sign of L-C's shooting woes can be found in the numbers -- reserve player Danny Ball led the Warriors with 11 points off the bench. The starters were outscored by Lewis and Clark's first five 65-25.

The Warriors' only two losses of the young season have come at the hands of the same Lewis and Clark squad, although Pfeifer said the two losses happened for different reasons.

"We made adjustments from the first time we played them and we took them away from what they wanted to do for the most part," he said. "We just couldn't get anything going offensively."

Lewis and Clark's John Mietus led all scorers with 24 points. He also chipped in a team high 13 rebounds.
