BUTTE,
Mont. -- A rugged season for the
Lewis-Clark State men came to an end
Thursday as the club was handled by
Rocky Mountain College 99-84 in the
first round of the Frontier Conference
tournament.
The Warriors, 13-16, were "a step
slow all day," coach Tim Walker said,
against a team they beat by 16 points in
Lewiston.
The Battlin' Bears shot 55 percent
and had four players score in double
figures. Eric Gallinger led RMC with 27
points on 7-of-10 shooting from the
field.
"We just got whipped," Walker said.
"They played exceptionally well. They
were well-prepared. ... They played with
so much confidence."
The Bears were dynamite in the first
half, connecting on 8-of-12 3-pointers
on the way to building a 49-33 lead.
L-C cut the deficit to seven points
with eight minutes left, but "we just
ran out of gas," Walker said.
Point guard Jonathon Burnett scored
27 points for LCSC. Jared Tikker added
17 points, while Spencer Bishop chipped
in 13.
The Warriors were forced to forfeit
their first five wins of the season for
using Terreno Butler, who was later
ruled ineligible. They've also lost
three FC games by one point and another
in overtime.
"We've got a ways to go," Walker
said. "I appreciate our guys effort for
the whole year. ... Obviously, we're
disappointed."
