Game Story vs. Trinity Western


Warriors rout Spartans, 80-45

 

LEWISTON,ID--Lewis-Clark State used a 14-4 run to close out the first half and then used a 13-4 run early in the second half to cruise to an 80-45 win over Trinity Western of Canada in a women’s collegiate basketball game played Friday night, December 29th, at the Warrior Gymnasium.

The Warriors (14-1), the fourth-ranked team in NAIA Division I, were led by Sara McEachern’s double-double, 23 points and 14 rebounds, and Shannon Russel’s 15 points, all from behind the 3-point line. McEachern recorded her second double-double of the year. Alyssa Erickson added 11 points and eight rebounds and Cassie Chapman chipped in with 10 points coming off of the bench. Freshman Vanessa Shelton, in her first collegiate start, recorded seven assists, starting in place of the injured Brianne Kottwitz.

Lewis-Clark State held a 34-8 point advantage within the paint. The Warriors also converted 24 Spartan turnovers into 20 points. The L-C defense held TWU to only 25.5% shooting from the floor. Lewis-Clark State grabbed a season-high 60 rebounds on the evening.

Trinity Western (8-13) were led by Heidi DeHaan’s 13 points. Katie Hall scored seven points and grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

Lewis-Clark State will travel to Spokane, WA to take on Whitworth at 7:00 pm, Saturday night, December 30th.
