Warriors Triumph over Argonauts, 106-45

 

LEWISTON,ID--Shannon Russel (Ritzville, WA) set a school-record by hitting eight 3-pointers in leading Lewis-Clark State to a 106-45 Frontier Conference women’s basketball win over the University of Great Falls, Thursday night, January 4th, at Lewiston, ID.

 

The Warriors (16-1, 1-0 Frontier Conference), the fourth-ranked team in NAIA Division I, were led by Russel’s career-high 24 points on 8-of-10 shooting from behind the 3-point arc. Alyssa Erickson (Wilbur, WA) added 20 points and Brooke Cushman (Lewiston, ID), getting a rare start, scored a career-high 18 points. Jessica Foot (Karana Downs, Australia) came off of the bench to net 13 points. Cassie Chapman (Lewistown, MT) and Katarina Gabaniova (Bratislava, Slovakia) both recorded team-high’s in rebounds with seven. Gabaniova was also credited with four blocked shots.

Russel also moves into a third-place tie with 157 all-time 3-pointers. She is tied with Lora Jolley, who graduated last year.

The Argonauts (7-9, 0-1 Frontier) were led by Erin Acre’s seven points. Alicia Hazlett and Samantha Garrett both grabbed five rebounds.

Great Falls committed 28 turnovers leading to 50 Lewis-Clark State points.
