HAVRE, Mont. -- Lewis-Clark State reluctantly watched a 6-foot-3 post for Montana State-Northern fashion a personal memory Friday night.
Megan Valgardson racked up 30 points, almost triple her scoring average, as the Skylights beat the Warriors 98-75 in a Frontier Conference women's basketball game.
The Warriors (20-9, 8-5) kept pace with the Skylights (19-11, 8-5) before allowing 53 second-half points and taking a hit to their prospects for favorable seeding in the postseason.
Valgardson converted 10 of 15 shots from the field and 9 of 11 from the foul line. Anna Bateman added 20 points for the home team, which chalked up 24 assists and held its turnovers to 11.
"A lot of people said they played as well tonight as as they'd played all year long," LCSC coach Brian Orr said of the Skylights.
"We played a pretty good game," Orr said, "but Valgardson had a career night. She was so tough. She and Bateman played really well."
Cami Kalbfleisch collected 20 points and eight rebounds for the Warriors. Kendra West added 12 points and nine boards, Jessica Foot had 11 points and Elise de Groot 10. BreAnne Mulvey doled out five assists.
The Skylights outscored Lewis-Clark State 19-9 at the foul line, committing only 13 fouls.
LCSC will play at the University of Great Falls today at 5 p.m. PST
