L-C's starters were just 10-for-39 from the field and 3-of-14 from 3-point range. Montana-Western wasn't much better, although its 21-for-50 shooting effort was enough to defeat the Warriors on this night.
"It was a hard game to watch," said L-C coach Brian Orr, whose team slips to 5-3 in FC play and 17-7 overall. "I thought overall we executed well, we just didn't finsih. We couldn't put the finish on any play and we couldn't sustain any momentum."
L-C held a two-point advantage as the first half was drawing to a close, but Montana-Western canned a 3-pointer at the buzzer to take a 22-21 lead into the break.
The Warriors' hopes for a second-half comeback never materialized, even though they raised their shooting percentage from 28 percent in the first half to 46 percent in the second.
"We shot a better percentage, but we couldn't find our (3-point) range and even though we got easy shots we just couldn't convert them," Orr said. "We had good looks at the basket, but just failed to convert them."
Reserve Elise de Groot was L-C's top shooter, hitting 4 of 5 attempts from the floor. The Warriors' four bench players combined to hit 9 of 14 field-goal attempts.
Kendra West was L-C's leading scorer with nine points. Ashley Baker added eight points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Montana-Western had four players score in double figures, led by Katherina Sunwall's 14 points. Alyssa Matter, Hillary Taylor and Jamie Buell added 11 points apiece.
Montana-Western raises its record to 6-2 and 14-12.
"It's disappointing," Orr said, "because both teams were 5-2 coming in and we just did not play well."
The Warriors return to action tonight at Montana Tech, which defeated Westminster 90-81 on Friday night. Tip-off for tonight's contest is set for 5 p.m. PST.
