Warriors continue tough road swing

Nationally ranked NCAA Division II teams host L-C Women

12-1-05

Fresh off two convincing victories this past weekend at Azusa, CA, including a 95-90 win against 12th ranked NAIA foe Azusa Pacific, the Warrior women’s basketball team continue their road swing against NCAA Division II powerhouse Western Washington University and Seattle Pacific University.

The 14th nationally ranked Vikings host L-C tonight, Thursday, Dec 1 at 7 p.m.   The game can be heard live on the internet by visiting
http://wwuvikings.collegesports.com/.  Both teams enter this evenings contest undefeated, with L-C at 6-0 and Western currently at 2-0.

On the year, L-C is averaging 88 points per game, while Western is tossing in 85 per outing.

The Warriors are led by the one-two punch of juniors Ashley Baker and Aundrea Morrison.  Currently, Baker is averaging 22 points and 10 boards on the year, while Morrison is equally as impressive with her 17 point and 10 rebound per night output.

Like the Warriors at home, the Vikings have been virtually unstoppable when they play inside their own cozy confinements.  The Vikings are 348-58 (85.7 percent) in 33 years at Carver Gym, winning 88 of their last 97 home games (90.7 percent). They have reached double-digit victories at home in each of the last eight years. Western was 12-1 in 2004-05, 11-2 in 2003-04, 12-2 in 2002-03, 13-1 in 2001-02, 13-1 in 2000-01, 12-0 in 1999-2000, 13-2 in 1998-99 and 10-4 in 1997-98.

Following the Viking game, L-C travels to Seattle, WA to take on the #3 nationally ranked Seattle Pacific University Falcons.  The 2005 NCAA division II finalists currently stand at 3-0 on the year, and enter Saturday night’s contest with a 63 straight home victory stand.  Game time is set for Dec 3rd at 5 p.m.

LCSC currently holds the all-time series advantage over the Falcons 15-14.
