SALT LAKE CITY -- Despite a "monster performance" from the No. 2 scorer in the NAIA, the Lewis-Clark State women's basketball team collected its third Frontier Conference road victory in as many tries.

The Warriors erased a four-point deficit in the final four minutes and logged an 81-79 victory over Westminster on Saturday. LCSC's 10th consecutive win improved its record to 16-2 overall and 3-0 in the FC.

But the Warriors had little success against Westminster's Shalee Fackrell. The 6-foot senior post, who entered the game with a 26.2-point average, exploded for 40 points on 16-for-28 shooting.

"We overcame a monster performance from Shalee Fackrell," L-C coach Brian Orr said. "... They looked to feed her every time down the court. She had three or four stretches where she just took over."

But down the stretch, it was the Warriors who took charge. Back-to-back driving baskets by Jade Fulbright tied the game at 71. Janeen Nelson, a native of Roosevelt, Utah, then buried consecutive 3-pointers to give L-C a 77-71 edge.

"She had a lot of family here -- three brothers, her parents," Orr said of Nelson. "It was really a nice thing that she played so well."

The Griffins (10-8, 1-2) chucked in two 3-pointers in the final 47 seconds. But Nelson connected on 2 of 3 free throws to hold them off.

L-C, ranked 13th in NAIA Division I, got 21 points and eight rebounds from Aundrea Morrison while Nelson tallied 17 points. Cami Kalbfleisch also excelled, scoring 15 points (on 5-for-8 3-point shooting) and passing for seven assists.

Leading scorer Ashley Baker, who landed in foul trouble while trying to stop Fackrell, managed just seven points and nine boards.

This was the first game in Westminster's new $15 million arena. Orr said the arena portion was smallish and loud.

"They had a great crowd and it was an exciting game to watch," Orr said. "But it wasn't a lot of fun to coach in.

"I think games like this really toughen you," he added. "We were on the road, and down the stretch we got the stops we had to get."
