1999-2000 Player Profiles
| Shannon Russel | #34 | 5-10 | So. | G-F | Ritzville, WA | |
| What About Shannon ... Russel came through with some huge baskets last season, most of them coming from beyond the 3-point line. She nailed four against Western Washington in Lewiston and also buried four in the first game of the national tournament against Lindsey Wilson, Ky. Like most freshmen, Shannon found the college level of play a bit faster than the high school level, but she made tremendous strides during last season and this offseason to improve her game. Divilbiss on Russel: "She can flat out shoot the basketball. The thing she needs to do is be able to score off the dribble to keep defenders honest. Right now, people on defense sprint at her out of control because they know shes not going to drive. Shes working hard to incorporate that into her game; that will add balance to her game and she could be unstoppable offensively." |
